Getting Your Child Interested in Education

Just getting the attention of a high spirited child can be a challenge of a life time but being able to keep that child’s attention is the true trick to helping them spark their imagination in a sense that learning will be a fun and rewarding experience. Learning should never be confined strictly between the four walls of a learning facility. It should be ingrained in a child’s every day activates but far too often the mundane tasks of educating a child are left solely up to the assigned teacher. It’s vital that learning be a partnership between a child, their teacher, their social network and their parents. If a child has this partnership they will surely be set up to succeed in a world that demands more out of them at a younger and younger age! Once this bond is formed you’ll see your child learn in exponential ways that you likely thought wasn’t possible. Now, let’s get back to the task at hand. You want to be a partner in your child’s learning but you have a hard enough time getting their attention long enough to eat dinner or to take a bath! How on earth are you going to get them focused enough to learn? Here is the fun part! Structured learning events with parents should be at a minimum as this is the primary function of the teacher. A child must learn how to function in a highly structured environment in order to function properly in socially when they are in their adult years. Again, this should not be your primary focus when engaging in learning exercises. Because of this, you can utilize several techniques to keep (or not keep) your child’s attention. Many people have found great success in role-playing with their children. A lot can be learned by playing pirates! As your child is busy searching for lost treasure it you’re responsibility to fill their heads with the occasional fact or history lesson as you wander around the island with them searching for that lost gold! Don’t forget to get lost in time with them. This will not only help you with building educational bonds with your child, it will also help foster an emotional bond with your child that will last through your entire lives. Utilizing visual stimuli is a great way to use playtime as a learning tool. America’s Youth are Getting a Kick Out of Soccer

From my seat in the stands, I could see that these qualifying soccer drills were a test of a playerâs dexterity, power, speed, agility, practice and coordination. It was warm inside the Soccer Etc. facility on this late May afternoon. However, the heat did nothing to discourage my nephew or the other twenty youth soccer candidates who were on the field. The tryouts were for the final two roster spots for the Aztecâs premiere youth soccer team in the fall and the competition was intense.
In fact, over eighteen million people in the United States now play soccer and nearly eighty percent of the participants are under the age of eighteen. As I glanced around, I could see that the stands were occupied by parents who clearly supported their childâs enjoyment of the game of soccer.
I continued to watch the drills and in particular a twelve year old boy as he bounced a ball off of his foot into the air repeatedly without the ball ever touching the ground. As I looked on, he accomplished this feat over two hundred times in a row . I can only imagine how many hours of practice it took to attain this proficiency.
As I watched his display of dexterity, I wondered what had happened to the pundits that had dismissed the growth of soccer in America in the mid nineteen eighties. I can clearly remember the reasons given at that time to dismiss the sport in this country. They said it would never be popular here because it was a â foreign gameâ. Americans did not âdominateâ the game was another reason often cited. It was a game that was not âdiscoveredâ in America still others opined. . There was not enough scoring was a common reason. Sports that were already popular in America would prevent soccerâs growth and domination was still another reason given at the time to dismiss the sport.
So what happened over the last two decades to make soccer the apparent sport of choice for Americaâs youth? There are several things to consider when discussing soccerâs popularity increase during the last twenty years : Soccer is a game both boys and girls play. It is more economical for a cash strapped youth organization than football. Most high schools have added a soccer program in addition to their football programs. The American Youth Soccer Association was highly successful in popularizing and marketing soccer with Americaâs youth. More and more Americanâs having now played the game in their youth are becoming avid fans. Latin American immigrants were increasing soccerâs popularity while the World Cupâs arrival in America in 1994 also raised the gameâs visibility.
Suddenly, a loud cheer erupted from the stands as my nephew kicked a powerful shot toward the goal. I smiled to myself as I quietly considered how similar my nephewâs shot on goal is to soccerâs growth in America. Both are powerful, driven by youth on strong legs that get a real kick out of the game.

If you have leather cow boy hats you would agree with me that it is extremely difficult when it comes to cleaning them. An air compressor or a vacuum cleaner can take care of the dirt by blowing it away, but what about stains?
Stains can be taken care of by stain repellents or hat cleaning sponge. And even for the dirt it is recommended that you use a soft hat brush. Makes the job a lot easier!
John B. Stretson, designer and marketer of the first leather cow boy hats in USA, had christened his first creation, “Boss of the plains”. In old days they could tell where a cowboy heralded from by simply observing the crease of his hat.
Leather cow boy hats are put to a variety of uses. Some of them are:
The spacious and outstretched brim. It plays a critical part in shading the cowboy’s head from scorching heat.
Used as a signaling tool. Waving it from a distance in all types of manner can convey a lot many messages especially in cases where verbal communication fails due to long distances.
Leather cow boy hats were also great at fanning a fire. Now who needs a fire extinguisher when there is such a stylish way of putting out fire?
They also served as buckets to pull out water to quench their thirst.
Mainly worn for their aesthetic value today, these headgears come in a variety of colors, more so if we include the women’s range of cow boy hats. Available in hues of black, brown and grey they are also given funny names on the basis of their color. For example a certain light grey known as The Silver Belly has been attracting a lot of popularity lately.
The phrase Ten Gallon generally refers to a particular measurement of the quantity of water; but I assure you it is nothing of the sort. And it is certainly not a hat container. Actually it is kind of a linguistic confusion. ‘Tan galan’ is a Spanish phrase. The closest to a literal translation is ’so gallant’ and it was used as a sobriquet for the young aristocratic brood of ‘leading’ upper class men who wore such hats. Its strange how they were simply not called sombrero.
The Stretson leather cowboy hats probably had some very simple designs. That is why the brand has survived through the ages and come down the lines of fashion evolution. As a result today all simple cowboy hats are known as a Stretson irrespective of their designs.
The first of the Stretson hat was sold in Central City of the Colorado County. That was in the year 1865.
Today a flat brimmed Stretson hat has even been incorporated in the dress uniform of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Red Serge as a mark of respecting the man who revolutionized American styling. So much for designing leather cow boy hats! And they say fashion designing is a waste of time!
