I use to really dig this Jam back in the day&it’s so cool that it was released with all of these Mixes to add to His depth. Pet Shop Boys had some jams back in the day&this is the One that truly blew them up.

What can one say. The Boys are back in town. Nothing more could be pleasing than to listen to music that sounds as fresh as the first day it was released. These mixes are superb as what you would always expect of such true tallant. One can only wonder about what goes on in the minds of these people. Writing catchy song lyrics and tunes that rattle around in your head forever. The best just got even better.

This is the only CD release that contains the original version of Pet Shop Boys’ “West End Girls”. This 1984 version is dramatically different from the widely released metropolitan-sounding 1986 version for the mainstream market. But I find it much more appealing and appropriate, especially for clubs, with its innovative rhythmic synth sound along with the sound of broken glass.

The slight disappointment is the fact that the CD was transferred from a somewhat worn 12-inch vinyl rather than an original tape master or even a duplication tape. This in itself would not be a shortcoming but towards the end of the track of the original ‘84 version, there is audible mistracking and surface noise. Apparently, either the cartridge used to play the 12-inch single was not up to par in its tracking ability or the vinyl was too worn or both.

Still the CD earns 4 stars because there is no other CD containing the original version of “West End Girls”.

What can i say? Classic tune from 1985 appearing at last on it’s own cd. Great remixes which were only previously available on vinyl. Worth buying if your a psb collector or have never purchased an original copy

This is just a warning. This is not the actual original single for West End Girls and it is not even released by Pet Shop Boys record label. Although the mixes are decent for their time, their novelty soon wears thin. The sound quality is shotty, as other reviewers have noted. I consider myself to be a true fan of PSB and try to collect as much as I can get my hands on. But this release comes off as unauthentic and weak. A “MUST HAVE” for only those that are TRULY die-hard fans of PSB.
Fyi: If you are a fan of the song itself, a very decent remix by SASHA was officially released as a B-side track on the single for “I wouldn’t normally do this kind of thing. ” This same mix is later included on the limited edition of POPART, the collected singles of the Pet Shop Boys that was released last year. This latter has a better sound quality simply because it was released over a decade later.
I would sooner recommend these CD’s than the one you are currently looking at.
